Commerce: AdvertisingWe’re looking for an Editor to join the Aviasales advertising team. You’ll create commercial articles for our brand media and act as a bridge between the editorial and advertising teams.
PSGR is Aviasales’ travel magazine. We show, explain, and convince our readers just how exciting and important it is to explore the world — or at least make it to the next village once every six months.
We’re looking for someone who can not only write and edit well, but also loves coming up with ideas from scratch, knows how to make a strong case for their decisions, and can find solutions that work for both the editorial team and our partners.
If all of this sounds exciting rather than like something that makes you want to hide under your desk, we’ll probably get along.
This is a 6-month contract position, with the possibility of extension.
What you'll be doing:
- own commercial articles from idea to publication: develop concepts, write copy, manage approvals, incorporate feedback, commission visuals, and publish materials through our CMS;
- come up with topics based on advertising partners’ briefs, including finding unexpected and creative ways to connect brands with travel;
- work closely with the advertising team: discuss ideas and concepts, handle client feedback, and make a well-reasoned case for editorial decisions;
- keep track of the editorial calendar and identify clients or categories that could be naturally integrated into upcoming content;
- proactively pitch topics that could appeal both to PSGR readers and potential advertisers, and work with us to develop new commercial formats and recurring content series.
What we expect from you:
- 3+ years of experience as an editor. It’s important that you have substantial hands-on writing experience and feel confident working with long-form editorial content;
- experience creating commercial and native advertising content;
- the ability to work with demanding clients and large amounts of feedback: ask the right questions, make sense of vague briefs, propose solutions, and confidently explain the reasoning behind your decisions;
- the ability to go beyond simply following a brief and come up with topics and concepts from scratch;
- independence and ownership: you can take a project from start to finish without needing your manager to oversee every decision;
- strong editorial judgment, excellent writing skills, and close attention to language and detail;
- an understanding that great commercial content needs to solve the client’s business needs while still being genuinely engaging and valuable to our audience;
- initiative and a desire to bring your own ideas to the table rather than only work on incoming requests.
A quick attention check: when applying, please make sure to include a link to your portfolio and tell us in your cover letter about one article that was particularly challenging to work on. What made it difficult? Who did you have to align with, and what was the final outcome?
Our interview process includes a test assignment. We’re interested not only in the final copy, but also in how you approach the task, develop ideas, and articulate your decisions.
How we work:
- a full-time 6-month contract, with the possibility of extension;
- from anywhere in the world: we’re location-independent, pay in US dollars, and love to travel;
- without unnecessary bureaucracy: straightforward processes, open and horizontal communication, quick discussions, and fast decision-making.
